Long story short, although she was diagnosed with level 2 autism, we don’t think the age is and we will be assessing her again. We took her to occupational therapist, speech therapies and we were even sent to asses her for autism. She could not chew and if I tried anything else than purée food she would gag and throw everything up, lord how we struggled.

My 4 year old daughter was having the same issue since I started solid food for her. But things may eventually improve for you as well. But for some, I just wanted to let parents know that, you may just need to be patient (I know it is very inconvenient to have an older kid that still can't chew!). I must admit, I didn't agree with most of the therapist's recommendations (Don't force him let him eat whenever he wants she said I could let him go hungry for 4 days!! Give him Pediasure if worried that he is not getting enough nutrition etc). We had taken him to an occupational therapist when he was 18-24 mo, where he was diagnosed with sensory integration disorder and infantile anorexia. I would say, things started improving after my son was 4. He still eats slowly and doesn't like some textures, but both of my kids eat everything (and by that I mean everything, like they eat every cuisine for example). My daughter started chewing at 2 yo (which is also late) and my son started chewing at 4 yo! They were only eating finely pureed foods until then. I also posted here some 8-9 years ago I think, and I still get updates whenever someone posts.
